Girls With Opportunity Are Girls With a Future
Harbor House shelter is situated in Northern Thailand and provides care and opportunity for girls who are at risk or whom have been sexually exploited and abused. Children who come from impoverished homes, dysfunctional families or families where the primary care taker is absent or involved in illegal activities are considered to be at high risk of abuse. Harbor House works through community outreach to assist these families and ensure that children are provided with a safe, healthy and positive environment.
Since 1995 Harbor House has provided up to 25 girls at a time with a caring environment, including shelter, food, education, vocational training and most importantly mental health care, an opportunity to a healthy and positive future.

In addition, Harbor House acknowledges and emphasizes the importance of working collectively with the local community on all levels, with focus on the prevention of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Through increase public awareness on; children's and women's rights, policy and issues related to protecting children, and working concurrently with various community organizations and projects, Harbor House actively assists in empowering communities in order to create a safe and positive community for women and children.
Through an all-encompassing approach to preventing child sexual exploitation and abuse, Harbor House is able to provide concrete and life-altering changes to the futures of many children and families.
For the children residing at the shelter, the ongoing success of Harbor House means they are physically safe, provided with three nourishing meals a day, integrated into the local education system, given vocational training to help provide direction and skills for their future, and given personal support and encouragement.
For the community, Harbor House is helping to create a more informed populace which is aware of the needs and rights of children and women, and supporting families to make sustainable lifestyle changes and collectively strengthen communities and achieve a brighter future.
